
| WEDNESDAY OCTOBER 1, 2008 The (Help Find Maisy & Shannon Groups) are asking for your help to submit donations to raise a reward for their safe return home. Maisy Odjick and Shannon Alexander have been missing since Sept 5th 2008. They are young First Nations Youth who are from the Kitigan Zibi community which is north of Ottawa, Ontario. I have started off by donating $50.00 and would like to raise enough to offer a substantial reward to anyone who has any information leading to the whereabouts of Maisy Odjick and Shannon Alexander. | SATURDAY OCTOBER 4, 2008 The families of Maisy Odjick and Shannon Alexander would like to thank the Assembly of First Nations and National Chief Phil Fontaine for holding a press conference this morning to raise public awareness on helping to find Maisy and Shannon. We'd also like to thank Chief Gilbert Whiteduck for coming to Ottawa to be part of the press conference. The families also appreciate the support of the Sisters in Spirit Campaign and took solace in participating in their annual vigil that also took place today. | WEDNESDAY DECEMBER 3, 2008 A massive police-led search is being organized for this Sunday December 7, 2008 at 7:30 am at the Community Hall in Kitigan Zibi (2 hours north of Ottawa). A Search Team from the Ottawa Valley Search & Rescue Dog Association is assisting in the search. The team is composed of 6 members & 2 dogs. | THURSDAY DECEMBER 4, 2008 Search & Rescue Global 1 from Gatineau are also bringing a team to assist us in our search. The time has been changed from 9:00am to 7:30am. However, if you can only make it at 9:00am then it's okay. There will always be someone at the Hall. Thank you everyone for your help in this search. We need to fight for these girls because right now, they cannot fight for themselves!! |
| SATURDAY JANUARY 24TH, 2009 A meeting was organized by Chief Whiteduck on Wednesday January 14th, 2009 to discuss the results of the search and the next steps of our planning. The Search and Rescue Global 1 handed in a detailed report mainly stating that "The missing persons were neither located,nor significant clues to their whereabouts uncovered during the search." According to the Kitigan Zibi Police, there have been no new reliable signs or clues regarding the missing girls. We have decided to resume our search of the Kitigan Zibi area in the spring. Chief Whiteduck will be working closely with the Search and Rescue Global 1 team to enhance the continuing search and to look at all avenues possible. We are thankful for SAR Global 1 for their expertise and efforts and we look forward to their return in the Spring. We are also thankful for Chief Whiteduck's continuous efforts and support. |
